Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission files are in LaTeX format (in a zip) and PDF OR Microsoft Word (docx) and PDF.
  • I will send one file WITH and one WITHOUT any identification of authors.
  • The text follows the style standards and bibliographic requirements described in Author Guidelines, on the Submissions page. That is, I am using the journal's template correctly.
  • Where available, the URLs or DOIs for the references have been provided.
  • I have read and followed ALL instructions in the journal article template.
  • The contribution is original and unpublished, and is not being evaluated for publication by another journal; otherwise, justification should be given in "Comments to the editor". Articles already published in other journals or events will not be accepted.
  • All articles must have the following items in English: title, abstract, and keywords. Before publication, A&V Journal will send the article to the English reviewer so that he can indicate corrections and adjustments to these items. All articles must be sent to this stage, regardless of the authors' previous knowledge of English.
  • When the authors return a new corrected article, a RESPONSE LETTER TO THE OPINIONISTS should also be prepared, clarifying adjustments point by point and, eventually, making replies or asking for further clarifications about the notes.
  • Full author details must be submitted at the final publication stage, including full name, affiliation, contact and ORCID identifier.
  • Research involving people (or living beings, in general), such as subjective or physiological acoustics, for example, should include in the article the term of approval of the Ethics Committee. In addition, at the time of submission, the PDF of the evaluation instrument (or procedure) must be submitted together with the digital copy of the Ethics Committee approval document.
  • Figures (photos with at least 300 dpi), diagrams, and data, in general, must be original or with the consent of the original authors. In this case, the original authors or the original source must be cited.
  • In the submission, in Metadata, in the field "Subjects" enter the PACS codes.

    Access the PACS here.
  • I even removed the pdf and docx metadata from the unidentified version. I also removed sensitive data in the acknowledgments section.

Author Guidelines

Bring your work to A&V and contribute to the science of the country and the world, gaining recognition for your contributions.

Submissions can be sent in Portuguese, Spanish, or English (or even bilingual), and should always include an abstract, keywords, and PACS codes (on the first page). A complete template with instructions and details on writing, formatting, and submission is available through the links below or directly on Overleaf. The Acoustics & Vibrations Journal (A&V) publishes technical papers in various fields related to acoustics, vibrations, audio, hearing, and related areas. It is coordinated by the Brazilian Society of Acoustics (Sobrac) via its editors, with support from its reviewers and readers.

1.       Article Types

The journal will accept original (i.e., not yet published) submissions of scientific research and applications from engineering, architecture, audio, physics, mathematics and related fields. Thus, the following document types will be considered:

  • Review papers: discuss the state of the art on the intended topic, clarifying from basic to sophisticated aspects. This type of submission should be complete in terms of literature, covering in large part the ideas, models, experiments, etc. already developed, even if they do not agree with the opinion of the scientific community.
  • Scientific papers: contain original material (ideas, models, experiments) that has not been published and that contributes substantially to the advancement of science on that topic. It must establish a relationship between its content and the state of the art already published.
  • Technical and applied papers: present original material based on applications of known and/or developing techniques. It must present applied methods that are in accordance with regulations and/or that present results. It is essential that they are of interest to researchers and professionals in the proposed topic.

Some suggested areas for publication are:

  • General acoustics;
  • Non-linear acoustics;
  • Signal processing;
  • Virtual acoustics and auralization;
  • Acoustic imaging (beamforming, intensimetry, and holography);
  • Environmental acoustics;
  • Architectural acoustics: conditioning;
  • Building acoustics: insulation;
  • Psychoacoustics, subjective acoustics, speech therapy, and health;
  • Numerical methods in acoustics, vibrations, and audio;
  • Underwater acoustics and geophysics;
  • Speech processing and synthesis;
  • Vibrations and vibroacoustics;
  • Musical acoustics and musical instruments;
  • Circuits and devices for acoustics, vibrations, and audio;
  • Vehicle and mobility acoustics (automotive, aeronautical, and railway);
  • Aeroacoustics;
  • Bioacoustics;
  • Noise control;
  • Industrial acoustics;
  • Audio and electroacoustics;
  • Instrumentation and metrology;
  • History of acoustics;
  • Legislation and standards;
  • Teaching in acoustics, vibrations, and audio;
  • Among others.

2.       Submission and evaluation

It is the responsibility of the authors to prepare and submit their articles in their final format. For this reason, authors are asked to carefully check the formatting of their articles, especially graphics and photos, for readability and digital (and print) quality.

Articles should be sent (submitted) in the formats described below:

  1. For Word users:
  • .docx and .pdf with IDs; and
  • .docx and .pdf without author identifications and affiliations.
  1. For Latex users:
  • .zip (containing the whole project) and .pdf with identifications; and
  • .pdf without author identifications and affiliations.

The submission of documents without identification is to ensure a double-blind evaluation process, where reviewers are unaware of the authors' names, and authors are unaware of the reviewers' identities. This approach aims to achieve a fair and unbiased evaluation/review. If necessary, please conceal names and affiliations (replace with "(content omitted)", for example) that may appear in the text. Figures containing any identifying information should have such data blurred or removed. Each article will be assessed by at least two professionals who will provide their verdict of acceptance, acceptance with revisions, or rejection.

3.       Other sections of A&V

The other sections of the journal such as calls, reports, and news & reviews are part of another management flow. Content proposals can also be submitted and will be considered by the editorial board.
