Vol. 5 No. 08 (1990): Acústica e Vibrações 08
This issue has two articles, two inserts and abstracts presented at the XI Meeting of Sobrac, held in November 1990 in São Paulo/SP, and the IV Symposium on Dynamic Mechanical Problems (Diname), held in March 1991 in Pouso Alto/ MG
The first article, entitled "Viscous Anti-vibration Pulleys for Diesel Engines, Fault Diagnosis", presents a method used by Mercedes Benz engineers in Brazil to diagnose faults in diesel engines. The second, entitled "Low Frequency Noise Absorption Using Cavity Bricks", evaluates and discusses the use of bricks with internal cavities acting as Helmholtz resonators for low frequency noise reduction.
In the inserts section, Silvana Gonsalves presents the National Program for Education and Control of Sound Pollution, coordinated by Ibama (Brazilian Institute for the Environment and Renewable Natural Resources) and inspired by Resolutions 001 and 002 of Conama (National Council for the Environment). Finally, Professor Samir Gerges presents a mini-class on the effects of noise and vibrations on human beings.
